Your baby is received in the NICU by a team of nurses and doctors highly skilled
and experienced in the treatment of newborns. They will immediately begin to
assess your baby's condition.
You will likely be asked to sign important consents which include permission to
treat, to place lines (to administer medication and fluids and obtain blood for
testing, etc.) or to do special procedures. The NICU team will keep you informed
as your baby's testing and care proceeds, and you are encouraged to ask
questions and share your concerns.
