Cooking for Diabetes Demonstration SeriesFind out about nutrition that supports prevention and management of diabetes while savoring delicious, healthy food. Classes focus on carb counting, label-reading, and heart-healthy principles. The 4 class themes are listed below.

Optimizing Nutritional Health during Cancer TreatmentExplore what foods can help limit and alleviate cancer treatment related symptoms and help maintain calories, protein and fluid while enjoying delicious, flavorful food. Classes focus on recipes that increase fiber, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains to help ease symptoms related to treatment. The 2 class themes are listed below.

DASH Diet:Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) is a lifestyle approach to healthy eating to manage and/or lower blood pressure. This eating style focuses on fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy, whole-grains and a low-saturated fat and low sodium approach to blood pressure control. Come and learn about low sodium nutrition for your heart and health while enjoying delicious, flavorful food. Culinary Nutrition Kids CampCulinary Nutrition Camp occurs twice a month for 2 months in the fall and spring for a total of 4 classes. Students from Gardner Elementary attend 1.5 hour classes learning about a variety of foods and how they fit in a healthy diet. In addition, they make a recipe using the featured food for each class and sample their delicious creations. Students leave with education materials and recipes to try at home with their family. FODMAP:Suffering from GI distress? Maybe FODMAPs are the culprit. Find out what FODMAPs are and how they can cause GI symptoms. This class offers education on the Low FODMAP diet along with tasty recipes the whole family can enjoy.
