Mindy K. Lane, D.O., F.A.C.O.S., F.A.S.M.B.S.
Dr. Lane is a Michigan native who graduated at the top of her class from the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1996. She completed her General Surgery residency in 2001 at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills, and is a board certified General Surgeon. Her fellowship training in Bariatric Surgery was completed at Ohio State University’s Department of Minimally Invasive Surgery.
Dr. Lane is a minimally invasive surgeon who has dedicated her career to bariatric surgery. She is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and the Director of Bariatric Surgery at Sparrow Hospital.
Kosisochi Obinwanne, M.D.
Dr. Obinwanne graduated in 2001 from the University of Ibadan, College of Medicine, in Nigeria. He completed his General Surgery residency at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in South Carolina, and is a board certified General Surgeon by the American Board of Surgery. His fellowship training in Bariatric Surgery/General Surgery was completed at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in Wisconsin.
Dr. Obinwanne is a minimally invasive surgeon who has dedicated his career to performing bariatric and general surgical procedures, such as: cholecystectomy, hernia repairs, stomach intestinal and colon surgery, appendectomy and splenectomy.
Jennifer McCaskill, M.D.
Dr. McCaskill, a graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine, joined the Bariatric team in 2018 as the team’s Bariatrician. In early 2020, Dr. McCaskill also became board certified in Obesity Medicine. This additional certification enhances her skill set to provide the best care to bariatric patients. She completed her residency training in Family Medicine at the Detroit Medical Center and is board certified. She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
Dr. McCaskill is passionate about her role in caring for Patients with obesity-related illnesses. She oversees the medical conditions associated with obesity in the Sparrow Medical Group Bariatric Surgery practice.
Amanda Cooper, PA-C
Amanda is a Michigan transplant and is originally from Indiana where she completed her undergraduate education at Manchester University. She earned a Masters degree in biology from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis and graduated from the University of Toledo in 2017, earning a Masters degree in Biomedical Science and Physician Assistant Studies. She has been with Sparrow Bariatrics since 2019.
She is a published author in the Journal of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
Andrea Hanna, RN, MSN, FNP-C
Andrea earned an Associate degree in nursing from Lansing Community College and a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from University of Michigan-Flint. She completed her Master’s degree from Spring Arbor University and is a board certified Nurse Practitioner. Prior to joining SMG Bariatric and General Surgery, Andrea was a circulating nurse in the operating room at Sparrow hospital. She also has experience working on a cardiac step-down unit.
She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
Brooke Bubolz, MS, RDN
Brooke is originally from Okemos, Michigan where she completed a Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics from Michigan State University in 2017. She earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Nutrition from the University at Buffalo in 2018. Brooke became a member of the Sparrow Bariatrics’ team in 2019. As a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, she is passionate about the clinical applications of Medical Nutrition Therapy. She strives to empower others, through nutrition education and counseling, to meet their nutritional health goals and develop a positive, healthy relationship with food.
She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
